Charisma Cardz Challenge - Sketch Thursdays + The Play Date Cafe Colour Challenge Wednesday

I have combined two challenges in one with this pretty card.

Charisma Cardz Challenge - Sketch Thursdays

Pretty sketch you can nip over and see it with the link above.

Great colours.. red. white and black....

Again I have done this as an 18 cm x 18 cm card.

Printed off a sheet of red and white splurge paper and covered half the front and part of the inner (That you can see on the left)

Cut out two circles and embossed one with sprays as such and the other with bows.

Cut two strips for the left side panel and did the black one with embossed bows again.

Edged the black card with white and the white card with red.

Added some pretty red flowers and slashes of white ribbon.

Water-colour painted the Tilly image.  Then edged the whole card with a red ink.

If you like it.. please leave me a message.. also maybe you would like to take a look at the rest of my blog HERE and follow me :)

Thanks for nipping by.

Envelopes!

How often have you made a card from blank card stock and not got a standard envelope to fit it?

I know with all the beautiful cards out there and the how to make this and that.. there are not many on how to make envelopes to fit the cards you do make.

So as I go through making my own blank envelopes to decorate.. I will do a write-up or "How to" for all the different sizes I do make.

All the folding on each envelope will be the same you just need the measurements for the paper and the size of paper.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I will start with....
18cm x 18 cm Card Envelope
You will need one sheet of A3 paper.  Up to you if it is patterned already.
Cut it into a 28 cm x 28 cm square.
Meansure 10 cms from each corner and score a straight line across.  So you will have now have your blank paper with 4 score lines.   In the centre of your paper you will see another square.
Get your scissors and cut out the end sections that cross over.
Fold and glue down.
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
C5 Envelope.

Again you need to cut your sheet into a 28 cm x 28 cm square.

Take your first two opposite corners and measure from the point 9 cm.

The other two opposite corners measure 12 cm from the corner point.

Then score along.  Cut out the cross over section, fold and glue.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I will put some photos in soon....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

C6 Envelope

1 A4 sheet of paper and cut to measure 21 cm x 21 cm

Take two opposite corners and measure 6.5 cms
The other two corners measure to 9.3 cm and score along.
Cut off the cross overs and fold .. glue.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lining your envelope.
It is really easy to line your envelope.  Find a paper that you like or if you have printed one off to put on  your card... why not print another off but in draft.
Measure the card and cut a sheet to the size of the inner part of the envelop and the envelope flap.  Lift the paper out slightly and cut around the flap.  Then slide back in and glue.  Then it is matching!
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Easel Card Envelope.

I took a piece of paper.. then cut it to the size of 19 cm x 19 cm so that is 7. 8 inches square.

I measured from each corner 7.5 cm or 3 inches and then scored around each.  Cut off each cross over and then glued together.

It was a little bigger than the card, but great if you want to add things that go over the top to add extra dimension!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
ENVELOPE GLUE
Want a way to seal your envelopes with out tape... use Lick and Stick .. it took me a while when I started crafting to find this stuff.. but is brilliant!  Make your envelope.. run this across the top of your envelope flap and leave to dry.. hey presto when you sell your card your customer can seal when they like.. just like a professionally made one!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  5 Inch Square Envelope

Grab your paper and cut it to the size of 21 cm x 21 cm that is 8.2 inches square

Measure from each corner 8.5 cm or 3.5 inchs and score along.  Cut out the cross overs, fold and glue!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Don't forget that your envelope is the first thing that people see.. so why not take the time to put some embellishment or matching paper or stamp on it.. It brings it all together and starts the surprise early
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Don't forget to check out my tips page .. always looking for things to add so if you have any tips... please feel free to just add your own tip in the messages.  Also I have started to add sketches.

Below... Lovely stamp this one.. well I like them all.. but this one is so cute!
Painted with twinkling H20 paints and I added some glitter for the snow!  Mounted on blue mirror card.

Green glitter and silver shimmer paints for the bows with a silver mirror card strip.

Shame really the photos on these hasn't come out that well as this is a fantastic glitter with red twinkling H20 paint on gold mirror strip.

The last of the 6 cards.. but a lovely stamp... painted with twinkling H20's and the embossing on these cards is done with a black glitter embossing powder.  The wreath has been mounted on gold mirror board.

The card used is lovely quality which I think makes the cards.  Hope she likes them.

Card for Daniel... Inspirational Card Sketches Challenge

A card almost ready for posting to Daniel... This is Claire's son... from the below link.

It is Daniel's birthday on the 7th November which is only a few days away.. but I am sure with the postal strike he will have more than one day opening birthday cards!

If you have a moment.. please either make one or send one that you already have to him... click on the above link and email Claire.  Thank you!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The theme although is Daniel's favourite colour.. I got the layout from a sketch on Inspirational Card Sketches Challenge..
I used various papers that I had.. shimmered the card myself... painted the little boy in water colours... embossed the pressie on the disc and wrote the sentiment myself....  faux stitch around some of the papers... the card is 18 cm x 18 cm and a section taken off the front.
So I do hope that Daniel doesn't mind I used his card for a challenge too!
Crafting LIKES AND DISLIKES
What is the best thing you love to use all the time...?
Do you have something you got and wish you never did?
If you could have one item what would it be?
WANTS...
Me.. I know I would love a large die cutter machine... as I do love the professional finish they give.
Copic markers.. I have seen a lot of these around and want to try some!
LOVES...
I love using glitters
Flocking.. really getting into that.
DISLIKES...
Embossing pens.. the nib doesn't stay in shape and they are not wet enough to use.. grrrr
What are those needle pricking pen things.. got one and darn it.. it broke the first time I used it..   I got a template too to pierce around and .. what a waste of money.. well for me it was...
TRIED AND LOVED
Water colour painting on images.
Can't do without my water pen.. brilliant.
TRIED AND HATED
Embossing pens lol.. still going on about that...
What's Yours?
What Is Your Best TOP TIP?
Well I have been thinking about this for a while... and we all have our own top tips so why don't we share more of them.
So if you are visiting my site.. please leave me a message with your TOP TIP and we can all have a go!
Here are some that I like...
*  Use a glue pen for embossing instead of those darn embossing pens..the nibs always go out of shape and then they dry up!
*  Talcum powder my page down first before heat embossing.. this stops it all going everywhere.. even before glittering and makes it easier to pour  back into their pots!
*  Want shimmer paper or card.. but not got the shimmer pots they advertise.  Well get a shimmer eye shadow  and a soft brush and dust over your paper... perfecto!  Oh you might have to enlarge the photo to see but wow what a difference.. try it!
Here are some photos to prove it.....
Left side none.. right side shimmer
No shimmer
After shimmer
Want a way to seal your envelopes with out tape... use .. it took me a while when I started crafting to find this stuff.. but is brilliant!  Make your envelope.. run this across the top of your envelope flap and leave to dry.. hey presto when you sell your card your customer can seal when they like.. just like a professionally made one!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Stuck for an embossed paper and run out of idea.. nip down to your local DIY store and get some wall paper samples... they add texture and dimension along with colour to any card!

What is your favorite tip.. share it with us in the comments.. thanks x

Was to use her image.. so get over there now to nab it and join in!

Colour Scheme was....

Subject is Food and or Drink

I just love spots so went for those.. as in the colours I wanted too!... and Cup Cake Tilly is just a darling to work with.. on this one I did a chocolate cake.. and glazed the top and sprinkled with glitter to give a creamy chocolate sauce look.

I did some hand doodling.. but that embossing pen I got is terrible.. gave up with that in the end.. so disappointed with that!

Anyway.. here it is.....
